Terri Higgins, LPC
I have over 30 years experience in the mental health field. Prior to starting a private practice, I worked at Region Ten, Albemarle County Department of Social Services, and Albemarle County Schools. I have a Master's degree in Counseling from UVA and use the Internal Family Systems Model when working with adults, children and adolescents. I am EMDR Certified as well as Certified as an Adoption Competent Therapist.

Kristan Looney, M.A.
Resident in Counseling
I will partner with you to help you make connections between past experiences, present challenges and what you hope for your future. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process and express authentic emotion, heal, learn, develop insight, and grow. I work with adolescents and adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, difficulty with life decisions and transitions, issues with identity and self-esteem, and relational struggles.
As a former special education teacher, I bring experience working with children with special
needs, families facing challenges, and advocacy. I have worked with students from primary
school through college and have provided mental health services for young adults in a college
counseling center.

Alex Taurel, M.S.
Resident in Counseling
The heart of my work as a therapist is creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly seen and
heard. To support lasting change, I draw from Internal Family Systems
therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, always
tailoring our work to your needs and going at a pace that feels right for you. I work with adults and teens navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My background in advocacy and my multicultural heritage inform my commitment to creating an inclusive, affirming space for all.
